❓ "What is 90% of LEARNING?"
⛪ My Sunday School teacher, Craig Fisher, asked me this question when I was 12 years old.
I was the only kid in the class (there wasn't anyone else my age in our congregation).
He wrote the word LEARNING on the chalkboard as he asked the question.
I looked at him with a blank stare.
He then grabbed the eraser, and vigorously removed the letter
L."It's EARNING!" he said. "Ninety percent of learning is EARNING."
🤔 Brother Fisher had my attention.
I never forgot that lesson.
As I was growing up I worked for my grandfather, a carpenter and house painter.
I learned how to measure twice, cut once.
Cut a perfectly perpendicular line with a hand saw by looking at the reflection of the board in the blade.
Paint trim without leaving brush marks.
And a thousand other lessons I learned, because I EARNED that learning. I hated working at the time, but now I look back with gratitude for the opportunity my grandfather gave me to learn and EARN these skills.
